Hallelujah! I Have Found Him!

I get such a blessing from the old hymns.
Every Sunday there is one that really speaks to me.
And often we don't pay attention to the words...
but they were written for a reason.

Satisfied

All my life long I had panted
for a draught from some clear spring
That I hoped would quench the burning
Of the thirst I felt within

Feeding on the husks around me
Til my strength was almost gone
Longed my soul for something better
Only still to hunger on.

Poor I was and sought for riches
Something that would satisfy
But the dust I gathered round me
Only mocked my souls sad cry.

Well of water, ever springing
Bread of life so rich and free
Untold wealth that never faileth
My Redeemer is to me.

Hallelujah! I have found Him
Whom my soul so long has craved
Jesus satisfies my longing
Thru His blood I now am saved!

  1. Greetings from Wordwise Hymns. Your blog caught my eye because I posted an article on this fine hymn this morning (a song that needs to be better known and used more often). Your comment on the words of our hymns is classic: "They were written for a reason." Amen to that! And that's why I've been studying and writing about our hymns for many years, to call attention to what they say. God bless.
